Your best bet is to not use non-standard fonts to begin with. If you must
use a font for a particular area of a page, try to place the text in a
graphic. That way the text will appear exactly as you want it. If you really
want a particular font in a site, try using the Web Embedding Font Tools
(WEFT) from Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/typography/WEFT.mspx). This
adds information about font objects in a page. Note, this will only work
with IE users. There is not another option for non-IE users.

Bottom line, if you have a lot of text that you want a lot of users to read,
don't use non-standard fonts. Many people don't like reading non-standard
fonts as they are used to a particular set of them.

Hope this helps,

the font you want to use needs to be on the computer you're viewing the site on -
obviously you have the font on your pc - others may not have it.

solution:

1) create images using the fancy font and use sparingly such as for banners &
titles.
2) use a font *everyone* will have eg times roman/arial etc

Then how are you supposed to make your web page unique if everything is in
Times or Arial? Also, I've viewed other web pages that show fonts not
installed on my computer - how is that possible?

Unique design and content?

Most likely by using graphics, although this method looks quite promising -

(I have not used it yet)
