Hello,
I have created a website in FrontPage 2003. The website has some images in it. Rather than downloading the images from their originial location, saving them on my harddrive and then uploading the images, I would like to reference image hyperlinks elsewhere on the web (for example: an image of camera, if it exists at sears.com I have chosen to reference the url of the image at Sears.com). This also helps speed the ftp process as images are not uploaded/downloaded. The problem is when I save this file with referenced hyperlinks in FrontPage 2003, Frontpage 2003 wants to store the images locally and will not allow me to save with the referenced hyperlinks. It gives me a window, while saving, to overwrite the hyperlink and to store the images locally. If I save, it changes the html code automatically to refer to a position where image is stored locally. I find this totally absurd - currently, I am not saving any files in FrontPage 2003. Once I edit in Frontpage 2003 I copy the entire html code in notepad and then save the file. This is a hassle and creates too much work. I was wondering if anyone has a fix for this problem. Thanks, DM |

What you want to do is called hot linking and is frowned upon by web masters because it is stealing
their bandwidth. Do you have permission from these web sites to hot link to their images?? If not, make the images a part of "your" web. Also if their server is down, then your site is also "broken" because the images won't display in your web site. -- Steve Easton Microsoft MVP FrontPage 95isalive This site is best viewed............ ........................with a computer "Dealmessenger" <Dealmessenger@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:9F6AAF06-991B-47BC-B0B1-33F6390A8EBA@microsoft.com... > Hello, > > I have created a website in FrontPage 2003. ....and, people like sears.com and others where you "steal" their links have
been known to do some "nasty" things. Like changing the links of their images so porn images come up on your website. Not a good idea. If you must use the images, why not copy them to your HD?
Accessing files from another site is frowned upon and could get you into legal troubles. Suggest you read the site's copywrite statement. It would also be frowned upon to copy their images to your site without
their permission.
