I have just removed the top border from my pages and entered a graphic into
the top left corner. On opening a page the file name has * after before I have altered anything. If i save and close it, then re-open it, it happens again. Anyone got any idea why |

Please don't shout - turns off your Caps Lock key.
The files in that folder that end in .web *are* Office Data files and it is safe to delete them. For example, on my PC I have a file named localhost_80_easthampton.web in the folder called C:\Documents and Settings\Kathleen\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache easthampton is the named of the web on my PC that I just opened in FrontPage. I delete these files on a regular basis, as do most of the FrontPage MVPs (and I imagine a number of other FP users do the same thing). -- ~ Kathleen Anderson Microsoft MVP - FrontPage Spider Web Woman Designs http://www.spiderwebwoman.com/resources/ anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com wrote: > THERE IS NO .WEB IN THE FILE NAMES THEY ARE JUST OFFICE > DATA FILES, I ASSUME THEY WERE FOUND VIA THE SEARCH > UTILITY BECAUSE THE FOLDER THEY ARE IN CONTAINS THE WORD > WEB!! >> -----Original Message----- >> That's fine - mine are in C:\Documents and >> Settings\Kathleen\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server >> Extensions\Cache >> >> It's OK to delete the files in that folder that end > in .web >> >> >> -- >> ~ Kathleen Anderson >> Microsoft MVP - FrontPage >> Spider Web Woman Designs >> http://www.spiderwebwoman.com/resources/ >> >> >> anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com wrote: >>> no temp files, but on searching for .web I got > tonnes. a >>> bit wary of deleting though i have pasted one folder >>> source below cos it doesn't seem right that I should be >>> deleting office data files!! >>> >>> C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application >>> Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache >>> >>>> -----Original Message----- >>>> With FrontPage closed use windows search and find and >>> delete all files named *.web and *.tmp >>>> >>>> The open FrontPage and see if it's fixed. >>>> >>>> -- >>>> Steve Easton >>>> Microsoft MVP FrontPage >>>> 95isalive >>>> This site is best viewed............ >>>> ........................with a computer >>>> >>>> "bumblingalong" >>> <bumblingalong@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in > message >>>> news:9C41F676-5150-4A8F-99A3- >>> B998A1AE189A@microsoft.com... >>>>> I have just removed the top border from my pages and entered a >>>>> graphic into the top left corner. Are you using FP2003, and are there any behaviours or Interactive Buttons
being used on the page in a shared border or FP Include? If this is the case, then the appearance of the * is normal. When you open the page in Design View in FP2003, the JavaScript behind the behaviours is re-inserted into the page, thus causing the page contents to change and the * to appear.
