Default Browser problems

Hello,
can anyone help me I have already published a web site which worked very
well,
I re-designed it and uploaded it but now find that when I click on the nav
bars it opens a new browser window.
but this only happens when going from the Home page to any of the other
pages.
the links all work ok in FrontPage. works as it should between pages 2 to 4
but I cannot solve the problem of going from home (page 1).

Check the home page HTML for a <base target="something"> tag, and remove it.
Usually in the <head> section of the page.
