Default Password Protection for webpage

Hi can anyone help please?

I want to create a portion on my website where only people I issue a
password to have my permission to enter. I am creating a charity website were
files will be available for charities to download for free from one section
of the website.

How do I go about doing this
Many thanks

Tom, I am trying to follow your instructions, but there is no secutity
feature in the toolss menu. Am I correct that in FP 2003, Subweb has been
replaced with subsite? Also, I have published the site to a local file, can I
still password protect it? Thanks!

You have to do this on the live site, not your local machine.

In FP2003, Tools->Security has been replaced by Tools->Server->Permissions

and yes, subweb has been replaced by subsite. In general (though not
everywhere), the term ...web has been replaced by ...site.
