Hi folks,
I'm using Frontpage 2003 to update my site. I decided to "flatten" my site and redesign, so I: 1. Deleted the site via FTP 2. Redistributed the Frontpage Extensions (via my web space provider) 3. Redesigned the site 4. Tried to upload 5. I have the Remote Site Properties set as a Frontpage web site 6. When the prompt appears for username/password, one of these doesn't seem to be working, yet I have checked both of these in my web space provider's control system Any ideas what can be wrong? This worked fine before... -- StainlessSteelRat http://www.stainlesssteelrat.net http://flash.to/oblivion - Outlook Express QuoteFix, great for OE Users "What are they doing?... You shouldn't have used FTP to delete your site content. You should have opened the site in FP, then
Tools | Web Settings | Advanced Tab, and enabled viewing of hidden folders, then deleted everything that you could see, with the following exceptions: The images folder, delete only the content within The _private folder, delete only the content within Then run Tools | Recalculate Hyperlinks. -- ============================================== Thomas A. Try opening the "empty" online site in FP 2003 using File Open Site or browsing to it in IE and using File Edit w/ FP (run a tools
recalculate hyperlinks and close it) Then try to open your local and publish again -- _____________________________________________ SBR @ ENJOY (-: [ Microsoft MVP - FrontPage ] "Warning - Using the F1 Key will not break anything!" I couldn't open the empty site with FP, and I've now copied the entire site across with FTP and I still can't open it. I've tried the Recalculate Hyperlinks function, but I still have the same problem, in that I can't login (when I enter my username and password and click OK, the login screen just reappears as if the username/password are wrong). FP cites the following as possible reasons: 1. The web server may not have the FrontPage Server Extensions installed. 2. The web server may be temporarily out of service 3. If you are connecting through a proxy server, the proxy settings may be incorrect 4. An error may have occurred in the web server In response to this 1. They are, I've checked, and verified them again 2. It isn't, FTP works fine 3. I don't use a proxy 4. Who knows! I'll check with the web space provider -- StainlessSteelRat http://www.stainlesssteelrat.net http://flash.to/oblivion - Outlook Express QuoteFix, great for OE Users Paul: I just want to capture what's real and honest. Your FTP has clobbered the FP SE
Have them reinstalled or repaired by the host and try again -- _____________________________________________ SBR @ ENJOY (-: [ Microsoft MVP - FrontPage ] "Warning - Using the F1 Key will not break anything!"
