I am using frontpage 2003 and have the following problem
with "insert tables" ( not table layout) When i insert lets say for example 1 row and 1 column and start typing in the first row the second row immediately gets smaller! Once the second row has disappeared my typing then expands and pushes the row out of my screen/browser!! I hope this makes sense what i want to be able to do is insert tables and their borders remain static so that i can type in each individual cell/column. Hope someone can help Thanks |

Assuming this isn't an April Fool's joke and since no one
has tackled this, I will try. First a question: how can the second row of a one row table do anything? By definition, it doesn't exist. Let's assume you just errored in the way you wrote your question. Let's say you have a multi-row table. As you insert content (in your case typing text) into the first row, the cell of the table in which you are typing will expand vertically to contain your content). Any contents in cells (ie, rows below the row in which you are typing) will scroll down so that you can see what you are typing. If you have ever used a word processing program you will have seen this happen. As for keeping the borders static, you will have to limit the content you are typing into each cell. If I have totally missed your point here, try explaining it in a different manner and resubmit your question. >-----Original Message----- >I am using frontpage 2003 and have the following problem >with "insert tables" ( not table layout) When i insert >lets say for example 1 row and 1 column and start typing >in the first row the second row immediately gets smaller! >Once the second row has disappeared my typing then >expands and pushes the row out of my screen/browser!! >I hope this makes sense what i want to be able to do is >insert tables and their borders remain static so that i >can type in each individual cell/column. >Hope someone can help >Thanks >. > |

I read that several times too Rick.
The only way I could duplicate it was to create it was to make a 1 row 2 column table and then start typing a non breaking line into the left column. It would then collapse the right column and then extend off of the page to the right. -- Steve Easton Microsoft MVP FrontPage 95isalive This site is best viewed.................. ...............................with a computer "Rick Budde" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:1894301c41b45$5e3bfea0$a401280a@phx.gbl... > Assuming this isn't an April Fool's joke and since no one > has tackled this, I will try. Thanks Rick for trying to solve
I assure you this is not a joke and I will try to explain as best i can You are correct in saying that my typing content should scroll down vertically and cells below my cells should move to accomodate...but i assure you this does not happen....My typing content keeps travelling in a straight line ie horizontally ( does not wrap itself when it comes to the cell wall) and pushes to the edge of my browser and then beyoned. This is a very difficult problem to explain and I agree it sounds like a joke but it is not. If i can't use tables properly then it is very difficult to put together a well organised web page. I hope this helps and you will stick with my until I resolve. ( I have been trying to get help on this for the past 3 weeks with no success_ >-----Original Message----- >Assuming this isn't an April Fool's joke and since no one >has tackled this, I will try. Tried all that and the cells just keep moving getting
bigger...must have a bug in there somewhere! I do use a good anitvirus but something is def wrong, this is a simple command and should work in frontpage....what good is the programme if the simplicity of tables does not function. Maybe i should try dreamweaver? or reformat the hard drive and reinstall windows/ frontpage again >-----Original Message----- >Right click the left column, select Cell properties. Can you provide an example of the text you are actually inserting?

I have the same problem. When text is typed into the 1 x 1 cel, all other columns srink with every character typed into the first cell. This started happening recently. It did not happen in the past since I created a whole website and the tables worked great. Can anyone solve this issue? Thanks.
