Default Navigation Bar missing Home Page

My host does not have FP extensions and requires my home page to be named "index.html". In FP folders view, I rename "default.htm" to "index.html" and let FP recalculate all hyperlinks. When I do that, the little house disappears from the home page in navigation view and when I try to add the home page button to the navigation bar of my other pages by checking the box for "home page", no home page button appears. It appears that after renaming to index.html, FP no longer looks at that as the real home page. I'm using FP98. To get around this, I've added a separate hover button with the link pointing to index.html. How do I get FP to see index.html as the Home page in regards to navigation?

A real easy solution is to rename the page back to default.htm then do a save as, index.html.

Now when a user visit your site, they will get Index.html, but once they have linked to any pages
with in the site, and then click the Home button, they will get default.htm.

With the page named default.htm open in FP Normal View, do File Menu | Save As and enter the name
index.html

OK - new problem. When I do the "save as" to "index.html" and upload my
files to the host, the home page is missing the main navigation bar. What
am I missing here?

You would save it in the root of the web.

You will need to manually create the navigation on this new page, as the only way to have FP
navigation appear on a page, it must be part of the navigation view. This is the main reason why I
don't use the FP navigation components.
