Help,
I recently downloaded the Embedded Visual C 4.0 install from MS and tried to install it, the setup runs, I enter the CD key and then it blows up with the following message box "Can't run 16-Bit Windows program" "Cannot find file "F:\DOWNLOADS\eVC4\acmboot.exe (or one of its components). Check to ensure the path and filename are correct and all the required libraries are available" I didn't tamper with the files, I just unzipped the package into a folder and ran the setup file. Thinking the archive was corrupt I went back to MS and downloaded last years version (eVC3.0) but I get the exact same error. I have since tested the install on a virtual machine and it works fine. Does any one have any ideas as to what I can try ? Thanks Si |

FIXED IT !!!!!
I found another answer to the same problem, I had the install in a folder called "DOWNLOADS" (9 characters), it needed to be higher up the tree so I moved the install to the root directory "F:\eVC4" and it works fine.... Nice one Microsoft !!!!
