VPN and Internet Connection

HI there,
I have a VPN connection which is used to log onto a remote server to pickup
emails. It works fine without a problem.

The problem is that you cannot surf the internet while the VPN connection is
connected. And if you are using the Internet you cannot make the VPN
connection.

Can anyone please advise?
