text box partially filled in doesn't show text in current contacts

I created a contact form w/ a tabstrip, each tab having a text box which is
bound to a field. These text boxes already contain some text, that can be
edited and changed when a contact is added or edited. I published and it
works great for a new contact.

I used the 'change form' to convert my current contacts with the new form,
and the text box is there and can be used, however none of the text I
published with it appears when changing forms for current contacts. Since
I've got hundreds of contacts already, and this text is relevant.....I'm at a
loss. I have cleared the cache, updated each folder w/ the new form, etc...
still no text.

Can someone help please.
