I have XP PC's and I can connect using remote Desktop connection from one PC
to the other (One Pc being at home and another PC being at work). I CAN NOT
share the hard drives even though I have turned on the option in the remote
desktop connection configurator.
Please tell me how I can copy files from one PC (at home) to another (at
work).

Do you mean in the options of Remote Desktop Client, under the Local
Resources tab in the Local Devices section.. you cannot check "Disk Drives"
or that option does not work when you then connect to the remote computer?

Otherwise you are talking about ACTUALLY mapping the network drives and that
would mean opening file&printer sharing through your firewall... BAD!

Ok so how do I use remote desktop (from home or work) and retrieve files from
on of the PC's?

Did you TRY the checkbox and then when remoted into the desktop of the host
machine, look at My Computer? In there (Windows Explorer) you will see the
drives of the machine you are actually sitting in front of. It has them
there so you can use them like you would any other drive while remoted into
that system.

Yes I did. I check the box, it said share the hard drives and it still does
not share. The hard drives are not sharing.

Let's be sure we are doing the same thing. You sit in front of computer
(LOCAL) and you open up the "Remote Desktop Connection" window (MSTSC.EXE)
and you click on OPTIONS>> and look under the "Local Resources" tab. You
insure that under "Local Devices" the "Disk Drives" are checked. You then
click on the OPTIONS>> button again to return to a more familar screen and
click on "Connect" (assuming you have the proper name/IP for the remote
system you wish to connect to already entered.)

Once connected you open "My Computer" on the remote machine (not the LOCAL)
and you don't see something like "C on LOCAL-COMPUTER-NAME" and so on in My
Computer?
