Understand System Mechanic 4 Professional comes with an AV and firewall
option. How does each fare vis-a-vis the usual suspects?

iolo system mechanic uses Panda antivirus. I had it, no longer use it.
Didn't find it as easy to use as
Nod32.

These utility suites can be gamble, when it comes to utilities they
*add-in* from OSD's. Like AV's and Firewalls. Keep in mind, they take
the engine and try to build their own integrated UI around it. I'd
recommend getting the real thing, from the vendor of your choice.
There's very little in System Mechanic you couldn't get better,
elsewhere.

Actually, I had been using some version of Norton's Utilities since their
first MS-DOS version, all the way through 2003 System Works. However, since
2003 came out, and now 2004, I've had nothing but problems with them. I then
began to look for a Norton alternative and found System Mechanic 4
Professional, which has worked well for me thus far. I just never installed
their firewall and Av options. Just using their utilities.
