i use amd athelon xp 2000 with asus a7n266-vm acpi bois
rev1006. 256 ddram, 40gb puma harddisk.(23 gb is free
space)os is xp professional.
i use the system mainly for phtoediting with adobe
photoshop 7. so when i try to open large tiff files with
size around 200mb, the system takes around 5 to 10 minutes
to open the file and then onwards even after i close
photoshop, the system slows down dramatically. and the
error log entry is
"the server{520cca63-51a5-11d3-9144-00104 ba11c5e}did not
register with DCOM within the required timeout"
please help me.

Are you double-clicking the files from Windows to open
them, or using Photoshop's File->Open... command?

If opening from Windows (Explorer), try using File-
>Open....
