Suspicious AP Preventing me from associating with my AP

Hi,

I have a problem with my home wireless network. When I try to associate
with my AP, 9 out of 10 it always fail and ended up associating with
another AP with the "limited connection" error message. The SSID is linksys.

My ssid is the only network in the preferred network list on XP and I
also tried changing the channel to various other channels but I get the
same result.

I was able to get the MAC address of the AP that I always ended up
associating with. The interesting part is when I run Netstumbler, an AP
with that same MAC appears to occupy the other channels as well, which I
guess is why changing the channel on my network doesn't work.

My question is, how can an AP occupy multiple channels? Is this some
sort of AP jammer? Anybody encounter this problem before? How do you get
around it?

Note: by comparing MAC addresses, there are two AP in my neighborhood
with the "linksys" ssid, one of them is a regular AP occupying only the
default channel 6. And the other is the suspicious AP occupying multiple
channels.

Thanks in advance.

-Johny
