I have a great problem

1 little lacie FAT32 File Server (EDMINI) multiple access..... (250GB)
filled with
6 directories and lots of sub directories...

My Windows 98 users can access this File server via Network drive Mapped as
drive N:..... read and write and no problems under applications,
Word/Autcad/Email.etc

I have 1 Windows 2000 pro and one XP pro...
both can read and write using the network drive at File level using explorer

but under any application it can read the files and not write back to the
Network
drive.
Word comes up with failed to write,
Autocad error writing/closing file
Outlook express insufficient space left on disk...

so its down to restrictions of applications coming from XP/2000
so why does it successfully work under File mode but not app....

I thinking to many files open by that computer/caching issue etc...

I have had to put all users back on to a simple W98 Pc and share out again...

Question do applications have a File access issue with FAT32 on network
drives...

please help me understand this issue.....

Cheers Peter Murdoch
