Why doesn't it look in .exe files, or look for .com files first? I
had a .com file causing problems and it couldn't even find it. You GOT
to be kidding me. All the software that's coming out the last few
years is C.R.A.P. I can't believe how badly they've messed up even the
old software that used to work, it now uses 10 times more ram, works 10
times slower, and they've eliminated or buried all the commands you
actually use.

And your ranting aimlessly about which particular A/V program?

It is not so stupid when you think about it. If I were going
to infect a number of computers, I would certainly not put it
in a *.exe file. Any worthwile AVG already has a checksum for
the *.exe, *.com, *.bat, etc., and other executable files that
are already installed in the computer. If that checksum balances,
then there is no need to check them further. Besides, it is too
obvious to set up a strange executable file and this is the role
of having up-to-date virus definitions. But it would be more
ingenious to embed the malware code into a song, picture, webpage,
etc., and invoke Java or Active-X to set it off. The anti-virus
definitions really have to work to detect these snippets of code.

Just about all antivirus programs you can configure what programs to exclude.
