my machine will not go into either standby or hibernate from he timer
settings. nothing happens, no error messages, nothing.
from the keyboard, or point and click manually there is no problem. It's
just the timer hat doesn't seem to exist.
Can anybody help please as the kids always leave the machine on, sometimes
for days on end.
Thanks

Tony, did you check in Control Panel>Power Options>Hibernation>check
enable hibernation box?
If no, then check it and click on Apply Ok.
