Yes there is definitely "some kind of special things" DVD Authoring programs
do.
The authoring program will convert your video into a format that a home DVD
player can understand.
Simply copying the video to disk is fine for your computer but the DVD
player will not recognize the format.
You need a DVD program, as newtechie said, to enable you to create a
"proper" DVD. I agree also that Nero is good (don't like Roxio at all
myself) and Ulead Movie Factory is also very good. Check out my website in
