Alright. I ran a DXDIAG on my Sound Balster Audigy Gamer.
The Synthesier, Audio, Midi Mapper, Synth A, Synth B, Sw
Synth, and Midi IO all checks out. No proplems at all.
But still I get the screen freeze ups & that ear
splitting percing sound through my speakers. Any other
ideas?

Hi Greg,

Hardware issues can cause freezing, black screens and other
errors. Also, your drivers should always be kept up to date.

Try the following steps one at a time to try and resolve the issue.

1. Update DirectX and your Chipset, Sound, &Video Drivers:
For all Video / DirectX / Game and Hardware Issues, I have a

2. Dust your fans, vents and components using a 1/4" paintbrush
and a hose vacuum. Use compressed air for hard to reach places.
Set a housefan to blow cold air into your case to expose an over-
heating issue.. If it works add more fans or replace defective ones.

3. A faulty power supply can cause STOP errors, random reboots,
and black screen lockups. One way to test for that is to check the
wattage sticker on your power supply and then calculate your need

4. Test your RAM using: http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

Ok, I have done everthin that you have asked me to do. In
fact the items that you wanted me to do, I do 95% of the
time. (I like to take care of my computer) Also I ran the
Memory test, and passed. And I saved your website to my
favorites because there is SO much info there that I can
use in the future. Also, I called Microsoft Support and
they helped me out VERY well. If I keep getting this
issue, they told me to call WinXP Support. They think
it's an WinXP issue. Thanks for all your help in the past
and in the present. Your a GREAT guy, Jimmy.
