Hello,
I get a message during start-up that c:\widows\system32
\sndcompat.exe will not run because it is not recognized
in the registry, please rename, or delete. I can't reboot
XP because I have a PC that the system was installed on
at purchase. please advise, Tim

What do you mean you "cant reboot XP"? If by "reboot" you mean rebooting windows via the button on your computer or via the windows GUI than - yes you can, theres always a way, you could also mean that you cant reinstall windoz, but in either case - you can. In the meantime however you might want to consider buying or trying a registry fixer to keep that annoying message from coming up at start up.
