Slow copying files over Windows ME network share

Has anyone experienced slowness when copying or opening
files from a Windows ME computer sitting at a Windows XP
box?

Also, I have experienced slowness just browsing to a
Windows ME computer over the network using XP Windows
Explorer.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
