who knows how to "repair this"

      14th Aug 2003
For some reason i have lost the ability [facility] to
single click on my desktop to open programs. i have
always had my folder options set to 'single click' but
now find that in folder options it has been 'grayed out'
Help would really be appreciated here. An email response
would be very welcome.
