Hi,

After upgrading to Windows XP Pro over Windows 2000 I am
now missing the Shutdown and Restart options from the
Shutdown menu toolbar, I only have the option to Log Off.
I have checked the registry without success and I have
checked Local Computer Policies and everything is set
to "Not Configured" and I have reinstalled XP 3 times but
nothing seems to work. Has anyone encountered this
problem and know a fix?

Run gpedit.msc and check the numerous policy settings
available for your machine. Some of them let you show or
hide the shutdown/restart options.

Thanks Pegasus,

I have check all the Local Computer policies and set
everything to "Not Configured" but it doesn't bring back
these two options. I am completely baffled.

Don't set them to "not configured" - set them to "enabled"
or "disabled", whichever is appropriate.
