>Hi guys, I hope someone can help with this, the problem
I have is really wierd and is driving me mad,
>At boot I have about 20Gb of free space on my drive,
within an hour I am receiving low space messages and by
the hour I am down to Kilobytes of free space, the only
current solution is to reboot whereupon I return to the
20Gb free space.
>
>I have run AVG, Ad-Aware, Spybot and Avast, I have also
visited Housecall, none of these report any viruses at
all, I have also tried deleting files (found by searching
for files by size) that were very large (A couple of Disk
Image files, which I assume were from burnt cd's) and
also files that were unknown to me, but none of this has
resolved my problem.
>
>Also, due to the ever shrinking free space, system
restore suspended, and therefore I only have the last
restore point, which is a system checkpoint.
>
>Zone Alarm also doesn't seem to be aware of anything
untoward, I am now currently wading my way
through "What's on my computer" but so far I haven't
found anything out of the ordinary.
>
>any help at all would be gratefully appreciated,
otherwise, it's the dreaded RE-INSTALL for me
>
>Thanks

>What's your virtual memory settings at?You may have it
set too high, which could be using your HD for paging, till
it's all gone.Try doing this, also look at where the
settings are for them.(It should be 1.5 X your RAM memory)
(So if your RAM is 256 MB,it should be set at 384 MB)If
it's higher than 1.5 X it will use more of your HD for
paging files,if you set it to system managed it will only
use what you need to,and empty when it's finished with
it........................................................
start--control panel--performance and maintenance,click
the system icon--click advance tab--under performance
click settings--click the advance tab on that--under
virtual memory click change--check circle next to system
managed size, after you highlighted the drive at top,if
you have more than one,do them all like this--click OK--
OK--OK--Click restart for changes to take effect button.
