disclaimer...i'm a complete novice w/ dvd burning, and just got DSL

so i go onto dime-a-dozen and download a genesis concert from 1973.
all the files come ready to be put on dvd (menus, etc)

i'm using the software that came w/ my computer (HP) called Sonic my
DVD

so first it has to 'import' the files (which are already on my
harddrve) this takes around 20minutes

then i go to burn the dvd and it tells me the files are too large (they
are under 4.7 meg until they are 'imported')...and i was able to make a
data dvd with the same files....so i lower the quality and delete one
of the shorter video clips to get it to 'fit'

then it tells me i must first save the project before it can be
burned.....this takes another 20 minutes.....

finally it starts burning and that takes over 20 minutes

finally after around 70 minutes i get the dvd into my dvd player, and
the good news it that it plays great.....

is this my software that sucks???? are there quicker methods to
burning dvds?

thanks!!!

Only 70 minutes? I mean for a DVD with a menu, chapters and stuff.
Well, not bad.

Sounds like. Never used Sonic but others have said it sucks. Shame,
it used to be RecordNow which is nice. And which I use.

That's because they have to be converted to DVD compliant MPEG-2

And converting takes time, usually a lot more than burning.
