I have this problem on my recently built computer who will replace my 6
months old trustworthy computer
I run WinXP Pro SP2 and all updated and it`s verified for registered
software (legit)
If I create a shortcut to a site or URL I get this message the other icons
work well even the one for IExplorer itself:
“This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this
action.
Create this association in the folder options control panel”
Here’s what I did to try to resolve this problem:
I checked on my other computer and the association is the same as in the
“not working computer” and theses icons work well
I reinstalled winXP Pro with SP2 and all updates
I went in the folder option as stated in the message
I saw the icon for the “shortcut” it is associated with IExplorer
I reinstalled all the files from the CD after a check on the “run bar”
If I go in property of this icon and copy and paste the URL it in the
address bar of IExplorer it works, but if I click on the icon I still get the
same message.
Thank you
