Shared book error reading or applying part of the revision history

Since Friday (excel updates were applied Thursday night) 4 or 5 users here
have been getting the following error upon saving a shared workbook.
"Excel was unable to save the workbook because there was a problem reading
or applying part of the revision history. You can unshare the workbook or
save to a non shared workbook format to fix the problem"
This has been causing alot of problems and tension here. Unsharing the book
is not a viable option since that requires other users to be kicked out of
the book, and any recent changes lost. Once one user gets the error, it
appears they all do.
We are using win xp pro SP 3, Excel 2007, with the recent updates being:
-Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB969679)
-Security Update for Microsoft Office Excel 2007 (KB969682)
-Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB969613)
-Security Update for Windows XP (KB961501)
-Security Update for Windows XP (KB963093)
-Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB969559)
-Security Update for Windows XP (KB970238)
-Security Update for Windows XP (KB968537)

Any ideas are appreciated, thanks.

Found the problem. Bug in excel 2007, brought on by an update. Save file as
..xls to get around this.

We have been dealing with this for several months now. About half of our
computers seem to be affected.
What if you have formulas that are not compatible with 2003? I cannot save
our company file in .XLS. Does anyone know what update created this mess? I
deleted KB957789 in hopes this would fix it, but no luck.

I am having the same issue here. I can't find anything related in microsoft
about this bug.

We also can't move back to XLS files. Is there any way to solve this? Any
info about if this is a known bug and it's going to be fixed?

Thanks

If you use 2007 specific formulas you can save to .xls no problem, no
data loss. If you use tables and conditional formatting, or big grids
you'll lose stuff. But the formulas IFERROR, SUMIFS etc will still be
there when you open it back up. You'll get #NAME? errors in Excel 2003,
but it will calc fine in 2007.

I would recommend getting people to save and close out of the shared
workbook regularly and then unsharing it to clear all the history crap.
(we did it every 2 weeks or so for workbooks that were open all day
shared between 3 or 4 people)

You can then reshare it and no actual data will be lost, just the
history of what each cell has been over time.

Shared workbooks are not the most reliable sadly.

Cheers
