How to setup a wireless access point?

Basically, at the moment we have two networks.
One in the building which has three computers on that can see each
other fine, then we have a drive test vehicle which has two laptops in
which can see each other. We have a wireless access point, which can
see the two laptops in the vehicle and obviously the other two in the
building. When in the vehicle on either of the laptops it can see the
computer connected to the wireless acces point but not the two
computers in the building.

Why is this?

All are on the same workgroup?
