services.exe - Application Error.... How do I fix?

I upgrade my pc to xp sp2, then I downloaded all the updates, then when my
computer restarted after the installation of the updates I get this error:
services.exe - Application Error, along with a message. All I get is a black
screen with my mouse pointer. Is there a way to fix this easily? I am unable
to start in "safe mode", recovery, setup, etc., it's like the keyboard isn't
working and I am unable to select anything to start up in "safe mode".

First, get a PS/2 connection for the Keyboard (round instead of flat) This
will let you select "Safe Mode with Command Prompt"
