Service Patches not loading on W2K DVD drive

I have two service patches that will not load on my DVD
drive. I'm running W2K on a 6 year old Compaq Presario
4660, and have the original DVD drive within. The DVD
drive has successfully read and loaded every CD I've put
in it up until these two SP3 CD's. I get the error
message "Disk is not Formatted", even though these read on
my newer laptop. Is it possible that the service packs
were burned differently than all the other CD's, or is the
DVD drive not able to read newer disks?? Has Microsoft
gone to a different technology for burning disks
recently?? I've recently loaded MS Internet Update Kit,
and that worked just fine, and it appears to be about a
year old.

Thanks in advance...
