Security Updat MS03-026

After installing this security update I lost all sound.
System sounds and all other. After doing a restore I got
sound back, but now I'm without the update. . How do I
fix this in layman's terms. Also my system does not tell
me if I have a 32 bit or a 64 bit version of Win XP Pro.
How do I find out?
