Hello,
I am in the process of setting up security on my database,
and I am going by Joan Wild's Access97/2000 Security step
by step, and another one, How I use Microsoft Access User-
Level Security?
I have created a secure workgroup file, set up my shortcut
to Access through this, created a "superuser", and am now
in the process of removing admin from the admins group.
No problem doing this, admin is only part of users now.
My problem is this - on step # 10, after I removed admin
from admin group, I am supposed to go to the Change Logon
Password Tab and enter a password for admin. The only
option it gives me is for a password for myself. I can't
get it to go to admin to key in the password. I have
checked that the admin is the user in the dropdown box,
but it still will only allow me to enter an old and new
password for myself, not admin. Why can't I finish step #
10? Any help is appreciated.
Melanie

Hi, Melanie.

You can't change another user's password from the GUI for a very good
reason. It wouldn't be very secure if I could log on with _my_ UserID and
could change _your_ password, now would it?

Close your Access application and open it again. This time, instead of
logging on with your super user's UserID, log in as Admin and use Admin's
password. Once logged into the application as Admin, you can change Admin's
password.

HTH.

Gunny
