scanner wizard is erratic

Using Windows XP Professional, updated weekly. I have an
HP Scanjet 4570c with up to date driver. When I go to the
camera and scanner wizard, everything works through the
steps up to naming the picture I've scanned. I put in a
valid name and sometimes, not every time, I get the
message:

The current picture could not be copied. To copy this
picture click "Try Again". To stop copying,
click "Cancel". Of course, "try again" doesn't work. If I
click cancel I get the message: parameter is incorrect.

Now the kicker is if I cancel and go through the process
repeatedly, sometimes it works and other times it doesn't.
This is using the same file name, same file extension and
putting the file in the same location.

If I use the HP command center to scan the picture
everything works consistently.

Any ideas why the camera and scanner wizard won't work
reliably?

Thanks,

Duane

No, what I wanted to find out is, if this is a bug in
WinXP, when another program is installed that duplicates
the Camera and Scanner Wizard's function and the Camera
and Scanner Wizard is inconsistent in it's behavior.

I'm using a different hp scanner, the HP 1210, printer, scanner, copier, I
have the HP software installed and I can use either scanners and cameras or
the HP interface. With other applications, it's simply a question of
choosing the right twain driver, you're usually given a choice. Now, if
your scanner is older, it's possible that might be an issue, especially if
HP hasn't updated the driver for your scanner since the release of XP or
updated the scanner drivers for XP.
