"Scaner" Error

There is an error message on my computer that appears at
random and reads as follows: "An error occured
communicating with the scanning device. Please ensure
that the scanning device is connected properly and try
again."

I am using a hp psc 2210 Printer/Scanner/Fax device on a
Dell Computer. The printer works fine, but is there any
way to make this error message stop? It occurs
frequently enough to be an annoyance, and I am sure that
all connections are correct (again, the printer works
fine).
