We are running a SBS 2003 SP1 machine and want to upgrade to R2. When the
exchange 2003 SP2 patch and SharePoint Services 2.0 SP2 patch were released
to the public, we went ahead and installed them. We are also running
SharePoint 3.0 on the server in a side by side set up with the 2.0
sharepoint. IE7 and all current available windows updates are installed.
When we try to install the R2 patch we get a very generic error window that
states "Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue"
I've looked for an error/install log and can not find anything. Based on a
few KBs we tried uninstalling IE7 and the computer management portion of the
SBS install, but still receive the same error. I reinstalled IE7 and the
computer management console, and have even installed the Server 2003 SP2
package, still getting the same error though.
I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or suggestions as to where we
should turn next for some assistance.
