safely remove hardware box contains floppy drive?

Out of nowhere, the safely remove hardware icon appeared
in taskbar, when I open it, the only thing listed is my
floppy drive. If I stop it, I lose access to the drive.
After restarting, I have access back, but remove hardware
icon is also back. Thanks, Mike.
