Hi all,


I am looking for an email client under Windows that will allow to see
the whole content in ANSI. Reason: I am getting lots of bounces from
Sobig.F mails, which forge the sender entry, and want to know where they
really come from.

Some mail servers submit the former header, but hide it in attachment.
If they are especially silly, the hide the worm in the attachment, too.
So I have to save the thing in a raw text and open it with a text
viewer, in order to analyze the header.

I would prefer not having to fuss around with mails like that,
especially as there are by now four "Undelivered Mail Return to Sender"
and five "Returned mail see transcript for details" in my text folder,
but not all are from the same mail server or real sender.

The worst thing is: My Anti Virus would intercept every time I am trying
to find out which bounce was caused by which infected machine, and after
getting warned three times in a row for each single text file, and
checking five files, my antivirus chokes, and I have to reset the
computer (WinME).

So I need something that can show plaintext only, and completely, as if
it were an unixoid mail client.

Just press [Strg]-U and you will see the sourcecode.

BTW, wouldn't disabling your AV scanner be easier?

It is not for the AV (which would kick in any way). Today i decided to
finally turn it off as long as I analyze the headers. But I still have
to remember to turn it on again.

But as i said: Having to save five different mails all with the same
"Subject" (because the mail server program does only know that one), and
trying to tell them apart by MX and sending time, is a bit tedious. I
would like to be sure which bounce belongs to there, and it is easier to
know if you can see it directly within the mail, be it an attachment or
not, without risking to accidentally *open* the file instead of
examining it.

Ok I checked it. It looks neat. But as a default it does download all
mails in one heap. My ISP's mail program isn't very smart, but you can
have a look at the subject lines while the mail is still lying on the
server, and decide whether you will download them or not, and whether
they should be deleted (after download) or not.

As there are lots of foreign spams coming in, I would like to sort out
Taiwanese and Brazilian Portugese mail, as I can't read them at all, and
some are stuffed up with huge pictures - which isn't funny if you are
sitting at an old fashioned analog modem line.

I would like to have this server side preview feature included in
Sylpheed, too. If there is any possibility to implement it, I would be
glad to know about it.
