A real challenge for Win2000 Server professional:

When using Win2000 Server IAS for Radius Authentication IP address allocation for remote users is provided by R&RAS service. Normally this is running on an other Win2000 Server PC - NAS which is the Radius client. In my network NAS is not a Win2000 PC so that R&RAS cannot be installed on it

Is it possible to run both services - IAS and R&RAS on the same machine and if so - how to push the IAS to use R&RAS for IP address allocation ? Or maybe there are some other possibilities for IP address allocation to remote users

Yes you can have both IAS and RRAS on the same machine. You can set the
properties on the RRAS to give out the IP addresses for the remote users.

You can point RRAS to the local IAS Server in the RRAS UI.

Hallo Manjari,

Very nice of You to answer my question. Maybe You know as well how to point RRAS to local IAS - by name, by loopback or as 127.0.0.1 ? And if this enough or I have to do the same in the IAS client as well ?

Thanks

Victor
