I just installed XP Professional on my Dimension 8100.
When I go out to the Internet, I get a message saying
soemthing about the "Remote Procedure Call" (RPC). It goes
through a 60 second countdown and then restarts the
machine. Any ideas? I was told the machine may have a
virus.

went to system restore. It restored to last known good
date and now is fine. you could then run virus checker to
see if it is infected.

The 'MSBlaster' worm that was out recently did this. However, it couldn't
affect Windows 9x because 9x didn't have the RPC service. Make sure to
check the machine for viruses.

System Restore will not do anything. You need to install your updates.
