RMA vidcard to Newegg...

Hey!

Just a about an hour ago, I Fed-exed a vidcard (MSI Geforce4 Ti4200)
to Newegg. I've had the card since last April ('03) and it arrived
with the heatsink/fan barely attached. I used a bit of nylon that I
shaved off a motherboard riser thereby attempting to make that HS/fan
combo work properly. I guess it never did because the vidcard died in
the wee hours of this morning.

Does anyone here have some experience with RMA-ing stuff to Newegg,
especially vidcards that Newegg is now not advertising on their
website?

TIA

Faustus

I think the catch would be if the modification you did (via the nylon sliver thing) is tell tale or in some way gives them leverage
to decline. Should of sent it back with the HSF the way it was.....i know i know excitement of the moment, All that antisipation
led you to believe that it wasn't that 'broken' for a NEW card.. ;^)

Good luck, new egg is pretty good about stuff

You managed to send them back a purchase you made in April? Wow. Apart
from that, I suppose your modification would be the sticking point ... that
and the 15% restocking fee.

@drian.

Why did you even use the card in the card in the first place if it was
obviously in unacceptable shape? How can you use it, let it die, and then
RMA it back to New Egg? Are you expecting money back or a new card???
Shame on you!

I RMA'd a Sapphire 9500 Pro OEM card back because the manufactuirer told
me that it had a batch of bad onboard memory. NewEgg was out of the
Sapphire cards and replaced it with a retail ATI 9500Pro (and offered me
the option of a refund if I prefered) within a week. Great RMA service
in my opinion!!

Yeah, thanks...I just checked teh RMA status page and it says that
Newegg has the card once again. I've already spent $12.42 to ship it
back to them so I hope they are sympathetic.

Uhm...shame on me? What about me saving them the time/hassle to
service the card back in April? What's the difference with me sending
the card now compared to then? Either way, they have process the RMA,
right?

Yeah, I'm hoping that they take into consideration that I tried to
make the MSI card work without hassling them.

If you sent it back immediately, and didn't use it, they may have been able
to get it fixed properly.. preventing it's premature death....
Back then they probably would have done an immediate swap for a new card..

Now it is probably damaged beyond repair, because YOU continued to use it
after it was received with physical damage..

That said, hopefully, they probably wont even notice the mod and replace it
with a new card anyway.
Just hope you don't have to wait to get it fixed by the manufacturer....

Let us know how it goes.....
