Usually u get that error message when u try to riprep an
image with a different SP installed.... make sure the
version of the SP is the same of the base cd image you
have on the server. Otherwise update you cd base image
with the correct SP using the update -s: switch.

Hope this helps.

I fdiskd a lab machine. I then booted with a RIS Boot disk. I selected the
CD Based image to install W2K w/ SP3 slipstreamed. This was 100%
successful. I then installed MS Office and configured default user settings
etc. Then I attempted to RIPREP back to the same server and got the No CD
based image on the server error. I did not install any other service packs
or hot fixes. The OS is exactly as it was installed.

I plan to build another RIS server and would hope to transfer the existing
images. Would this work?

Thanks in advance.

U might want to create a new risetup base image on your
RIS server with SP4 on it.
copy the w2k pro cd to a HD and slipstream it with sp4
burn the new CD or point the RIS server to that dir
location. I've tested it once on my test server and it
worked. But i will test this first with a similar env
before going to prod.
