What did you expect the 9800 to do that the ti4200 wasn't doing?
Upgrade for a reason, not just because you can.

I have a ti4200 - thought with my evil PC (Dual DDR400 and P4 with HT) to upgrade the VGA...

Damn i'm dissapointed. Will never spend 400$ again on any VGA simply not worth it.

Ti4200 delivers more than enought, at 1/5 of the price...

Never ever state of the art again...

Try running that card at 4*FSAA and 16*Ansitropic at 1280*1024, then you'll
have a clue what you are missing.

I just replaced my GF4 Ti 4200 with a Radeon 9800 Pro and being able to play
games at 1280x1024 with 4*FSAA and 16*Ansitropic is exactly what I was
missing. I'm pleased.

I got a good taste of the Ti4200 at best buy the other day. I was able to
play some games, and they even had 3D Mark 2003 on there so i said what the
heck. It was on one of their top end machines there, so i expect things to
run nice. I thought wow, this is nice. I'm not use to seeing a good video
card running games, so anything better than what i had(GF2MX) is nice to me.

I ordered a 9700 Pro, and installed it on my low end 1.2 athlon, 266 DDR
iWill mb. I'm pleased to say that the 9700 Pro on my low end system kicked
the **** out of that Ti4200 on a High End system with P4 h/t. And i even
know that still, my system is holding my 9700 Pro back. It would be even
better if i had a good mb and cpu!

I do have a question though.. Everyone says their 9800 Pro does 1280x1024
4AA 16AF nicely. What are ideal settings for a 9700 Pro? What can it do, and
what should i not do to get the best performance out of it?

I don't understand ?

I had a gf ti4400 and changed it for a radeon 9700 pro
the difference is huge, not only in performance (speed)
but specially in picture quality (6xFSAA and 16xAF)
I'm glad I bought the radeon !

What are you dissapointed about ? is it just the price ?
