I set the view for a window to icons from say details, then when I
come back it is details again, not icons. What do I do?
Thanks

Hi,

WindowsXP will remember the settings of up to 400 folders, after that it
starts forgetting some. See this from MVP Kelly for a way to increase this
number:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Line 2, increase the folder view size limit to 8000

You can also resolve this with the newest version of TweakUI. Get it here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/p.../powertoys.asp

After installing, look under explorer/customization, increase the "folders
to remember".

I did this and it seemed to work. What price am I paying to triple
this? And if not that much, then why is the XP default set low?

Thanks

Hi,

No price, it simply makes a registry change. No idea why they used that
default figure, does seem sort of short-sighted, doesn't it?
