How to rename a network shared folder name (without full remove and re-creation)?

Assume I define a new sharing for an existing folder D:\work\ with a sharing name "sharemywork".

Now a couple of weeks later I decide to rename the share name to lets say "shareprojects123".

Ok, I could completely remove the sharing info and re-create/re-define it again with a different name in
Fodlers Properties->Sharing tab

But this would be very user unfriendly.

Is there another, smarted way to just rename the sharing name and leave everything else in place?

Peter

I don't know if this will work, but I don't see any reason it
shouldn't...

Right-click on "My Computer" -> Manage
Then find "System Tools \ Shared Folders \ Shares
Then find your share in the right window, right-click on it, then
"Properties"
In the "General" tab, change the name that appears in the
"Share Name" box then "OK" your way out.

HTH,
John

I figured out a work around. When you are in the "Shares" folder under "Computer Management\Shared Folders" simply, click on the folder that you want to rename, right click the folder name and hit "Stop Sharing". It will disappear from your list and you can add a new file share with the same path as the one you deleted from the list and give it the name you want.
