Removing Northbridge HSF

I have a A7M266 motherboard. The fan on my northbridge cooler is
dying. I wanted to just replace the fan and contacted Asus. Well they
sent me out a passive northbridge cooler, and no fan. Evidently they
no longer carry the part. The fan looks to be 40mm, and has no square
framing around it. So far I haven't been able to find a replacement.
So, my question is to remove the old HSF, would I have to remove the
motherboard completely in order to push up on the push-pins? or is
there an easier way to do it? Thanks in advance for any help.
