Every time I open my MSN Stock Portfolio, I get a spyware blocked pop up
message. I've tried telling the spyware software to remove this, but it
keeps coming back. Any suggestions as to how to get rid of it?

I believe that this is, in fact, an appropriate trusted site. It is
associated with Passport authentication, and users of MSN, Money, and
Hotmail, for example,. will see messages about this. We've been told
previously by Microsoft staff in these groups that these messages are
essentially a bug in the beta1 product, and should be allowed.

So--I believe this is not evidence of spyware on your system.

I have a similar issue with Money 2005. When I navigate throughout Money
using menu or link selections, I receive the File Download window that asks
me if I want to Open, Cave, Cancel or More Info. It's generated from
surf.mar@. The file type listed on the box is Surfboard Shim Doc Object
View. Microsoft support had me:
1. Reinstall
2. Delete two registry keys associated with Money.
3. Disable firewall and antivirus software on the reinstall.
4. Add //@surf.mar@ tot he tusted sites in Internet Explorer.

I'm going on the 10th e-mail suggestion from them and I'm experiencing a
minor bit of anxiety from the whole mess.

One thing I did do that they suggested, was to create a new account, and
install Money to the new account. It worked like a champ, but I'm still
stuck with that File Download window in my main account in Windows.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I began getting the Download Window after I applied some registry tweaks. I believe I narrowed it down to the following two keys. Change the 00000001 to 00000000. Then close IE and Money and open them again.

Let me know if that doesn't work as I had made a few other changes at the same time and am not positive which one fixed the issue.

; Makes the Always ask before opening this type of file check box on the on the Safe Open File dialog box unavailable so that it is always selected.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions]
"AlwaysPromptWhenDownload"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions]
"AlwaysPromptWhenDownload"=dword:00000001

Well, it's 2010 and I am still using Microsoft Money 2007. And all of a sudden I opened my money program and was having the very same problem discussed in this thread. Every time I opened money or changed tabs I would be prompted to save or to open the "MNYxx.surfplace. Well, I am using Vista so it took me a while to find the registry entry for Vista. I found it here in Vista:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions\alwayspromptwhendownload

I changed the 00000001 to 00000000 and viola. My Money 2007 is working again! So, after all this time since this post was put up it is still useful. Thanks!
