Yes, that is a better explanation. You set a password in the BIOS and
very unfortunately forgot it. Clearing that password on a laptop depends
on the laptop make and model. You can post back with that missing
information and we may be able to tell you the next step or you can call
the laptop mftr.'s tech support for help. Some laptops have a special
backdoor BIOS password that will allow you to enter the BIOS and clear
the password requirement. Other laptops will need to be sent back to the
mftr. You will undoubtedly need to provide the mftr. with proof of
ownership, etc.
