In services.msc( where else) I disabled two services Remote Procedure
Call(RPC) and Remote Procedure Call (RPC)Locator. Now I would like to turn
them back on to access my router which has stopped communicating. When I
right click and click properties I get nothing. Am I doing something wrong or
am I infected or something?

What made you think that you could disable these services? I'm
surprised that your pc even boots or that it works at all. See here if

The reason I did it was because I miread something on Majorgeeks to disable
spyware.
The computer boots it just is missing a few functions. Like communicating
with the router and closing the mmc.

It's gonna miss more than a "few functions" if you don't get RPC on
"Automatic" again! RPC Locator could be on "Manual".

Well they are both on disabled and I tried to boot from the Windows disk and
do a fast repair, but that didn't work. Now I am starting to worry. I can't
leave for thanksgiving till i fix it.

Does the machine boot at all? Obviously not I guess if you tried to do
a fast repair. In your first post I was under the impression that the
system was still running? What happened? Did you try the reg fix
before you rebooted? Do you have an ERD and had you backed up the
registry to the repair folder? If so you might be able to repair the
installation. If not you will have to try to get the reg fix onto the
installation via registry manipulation in the Repair Console or thru a
parallel installation. Someone else will have to tell you how to try a
registry repair in the RC, I don't have that information at my fingertips.

OK I ran the registry patch and things look like they are back to normal.
Thanks. This was a big save. Now I have a few things to think about and
research before i do something like that again.

From the recovery console command prompt;

enable rpcss service_auto_start
enable rpclocator service_demand_start

To start the Recovery Console, start the computer from the Windows 2000
Setup CD or the Windows 2000 Setup floppy disks. If you do not have Setup
floppy disks and your computer cannot start from the Windows 2000 Setup CD,
use another Windows 2000-based computer to create the Setup floppy disks.
Press ENTER at the "Setup Notification" screen. Press R to repair a Windows
2000 installation, and then press C to use the Recovery Console. The
Recovery Console then prompts you for the administrator password. If you do
not have the correct password, Recovery Console does not allow access to the
computer. If an incorrect password is entered three times, the Recovery
Console quits and restarts the computer. Note If the registry is corrupted
or missing or no valid installations are found, the Recovery Console starts
in the root of the startup volume without requiring a password. You cannot
access any folders, but you can carry out commands such as chkdsk, fixboot,
and fixmbr for limited disk repairs. Once the password has been validated,
you have full access to the Recovery Console, but limited access to the hard
disk. You can only access the following folders on your computer: drive
root, %systemroot% or %windir%

This would have been the much preferred method than runing a patch off the
web.
I have some reinstall issues but I am working.
