Remote Printer setup over the VPN

We have 2 windows 2000 server and we setup terminal client in 12 location. Their login to our server throug VPN connection ( 64kbs ISDN). We try to setup the remote printer. we couldn't. Please help out...

Remoter user has to take print out from their printer. but they can send print to my server in head office.

Hi,

If using the remote desktop client check the redirect printers box under
local resources. However, for this to work the client and server must have
the exact same drivers. If one has oem and the other original Win2k then the
session printer more than likely will not be created for the client session.

The best way to determine "exactly" which driver to configure is to look in the System Event Log on the Terminal Server and look for Event ID 1111. The details will tell you which driver was not available on the TS to connect the remote printer

That being said you normally don't add print drivers to a Terminal Server unless you want it to start acting funny, instead you map the unsupported driver to a build-in driver with similar capabilities
